The winning trophy, title of “Shrimp Eating Champion” and a grand prize basket will be awarded to the “First Place” largest total consumption winner.
A “People’s Choice” trophy and prize basket will be awarded to the person who collects the most donations from the crowd and prior to the championship via online donations.
The contest will consist of a maximum of ten (10) contestants.
Contestants must be at least 18 years old at the time of the contest.
Contests must complete this form prior to the contest.
A Sponsor will be assigned to you. Once assigned you agree to work with your sponsor. You represent them at the events.
Contestants will consume (and keep down) as much of the 3lb total allotted shrimp as they can within a eight minute time period
a. Shrimp will be distributed by ‘monitors’ in 1/2lb increments
b. Cocktail sauce & bottled water will be provided & are the ONLY additional items contestants can be consume during the contest.
Contest will begin when all entrants are seated and introduced. Table monitors will be stationed at the head of each table to provide shrimp and record consumption weights. After consuming an entire bag of shrimp, contestants shall signal the monitor by waving their empty bag above their head to receive the next bag of shrimp. CONTESTANS MUST PLACE EACH EMPTY BAG UNDER THEIR PLATE AND RETAIN FOR VERIFICATION OF FINAL CONSUMPTION.
Contestants must remain seated during the entire contest, and have had your final consumption weight recorded by the table monitor.
LEAVING YOUR SEAT BEFORE HAVING YOUR CONSUMPTION WEIGHT VERIFIED, OR FAILURE TO KEEP YOUR SHRIMP DOWN, SHALL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
When the official announces the contest is over, no more shrimp may be put in your mouth or consumed by the contestant. Contestants may chew and swallow any shrimp already in their mouth. If no contestant has finished all 3lbs, final consumption weights will be verified and a winner will be announced. In the event of a tie, winners will be determined by an “overtime” contest. The “overtime” contest will be one minute in length (60sec) and will require those who tied to eat as much shrimp within the one minute (60sec) time period. The “overtime” contest will continue until the tie is broken, or until one contestant concedes.
